The Rum Punch Bandits are (l to r):

Hitting the stage for the first time in November of 2000, the Rum Punch Bandits is a seven piece Gulf-n-Western band from the Charlotte , NC area. Not sure what Gulf-n-Western music is? Well it’s 2 jiggers of Jimmy Buffett, a splash of Jerry Jeff Walker, an ounce of Bob Marley, a dash of the Stones, add plenty of ice and shake. The Bandits have had the distinct pleasure of opening for Jimmy Buffett three times as well as Kenny Chesney at Williams-Brice Stadium in 2008 in Columbia , SC. They’ve headlined numerous ParrotHead events, festivals, private events and clubs.

Kevin Loop is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and blues harpist. Originally from Syracuse, NY, he now hails from Charlotte and is chief songwriter and a founding member of the band; Percussionist Bob Robinson is from Chester , SC and also a founding member; Fort Mill , SC native John Griffin cranks out lead acoustic and electric guitar riffs for the Bandits; JT Layton is the keyboardist and guru for the band who offers his vast knowledge for the boys to draw from; Donny Martin is from Rock Hill , SC and plays bass for the Bandits. Ed Pernick, another Rock Hillian, handles the drums and keeps the band in time from time to time; Lastly, Scott Dowless, from Tega Cay, SC is the lead electric guitarist who has a nice collection of toys to dazzle you with (think Paul Reed Smith, a Fender Strat and a vintage Fender Telecaster). Scott is an amazing talent and a strong addition to the band.

ADD-ON OPTIONS

For a mere pittance above and beyond our normal fee, the following options can be added to the Rum Punch bandits' line-up:

  • * Blues harp aficionado Scott Nickerson was an understudy with longtime Jimmy Buffett harmonica player Greg "Fingers" Taylor and will add an authentic sound to our groove. He is also the founding father of the ParrotHead Nation, founding Parrot Heads in Paradise (PHiP) in 1986.
  • * Steel drum maestro Quincy Yates, formerly of the St. Somewhere Band, will add a cool Caribbean rhythm to our sound.

You helped make our event a huge success, the best yet as over 800 people attended. Thank you for a wonderful time and we look forward to having you back next year for an encore performance.
